What Soap is for you?

With all the soaps on T.V. it’s hard to know which show is for you. Thus comes this guide I will try and write a brief description of the show and what a lot of the focus seems to be on if you think you like it then tune in and find out if you like it.

Before I start I have to say give the soap about a month or two don’t just turn it on and say ‘this episode is boring’ a lot of the times there are good weeks and bad weeks and you just mite tune in as they are filling some time while they work on the big story that is right around the corner so just give the show some time.

ABC:

All My Children:

All My children (known as AMC to the online world) is a soap opera set in the town of Pine valley the focus seems to be on the fashion world and full of drama and backstabbing and of course love so give it a chance.

Note: I do not watch AMC and the one episode I tried to watch I was bored and they were dealing with clothes so sorry I mite try and watch again and see if I like it but I haven’t had the time .

One Life to live:

One Life to live (Known as OlTl to the online community) Is a soap opera set in the fictional town of Llainview this soap is full of love and lust and loads of drama try it out and see what you think.

Note: I do not watch OlTl so I couldn’t write anything better and the online resources I looked at sucked so I am sorry maybe when I start watching this show I will be able to write something better.

General Hospital:

General Hospital (Known as GH to the online community ) is a soap opera set in the fictional town of Port Charles as the title suggest GH is a Hospital show along the lines of E.R. /  Grey’s Anatomy but GH has been running a lot longer then those shows. Another GH seems to have going is a Mob storyline also there seems to be a trend to do BIG story’s like train crashes and Virus outbreaks that they haven’t done in the past so if you are a medical drama fan try this show out I don’t think you will be let down.

NBC:

Days of our lives:

Days of our lives (known as DOOL or Days to the online community) is set in the fictional town of  Salem this soap focuses on mystery elements from who dun its to family feuds along with some love and drama. Now the focus for this soap is to save it from cancellation but if it dose get canceled the writers seem to be working on a end game story just in case with a big Brady / Dimera ((Good vs Bad)) storyline which will tie up a long standing story between the two families. So if you are looking for a soap to pick up try out Days you mite just like it.

CBS:

Young and the Restless;

Yong and the Restless (known as Y&R to the online community) is set in the fictional Genoa City. Y&R deals with more corprete storylines and has been the #1 soap opera in the USA for years now. So if you are going to pick up a soap you mite want to tune into Y&R and see what all the fuss is about.

Note: I just started watching Y&R this week so as I watch more I will come back and edit this.

Bold and the Beautiful:

Bold and the Beautiful (known as B&B or BaTb to the online world) is a soap opera on CBS it is one of the most popular soaps outside of the USA as it is in the USA so you mite want to try it out and see if you like it.

Note : I am so sorry I couldn’t write more about this soap I only saw one part after a episode of Y&R I watched this week but I didn’t have time to pick this soap up yet but hopefully I will get a DVR soon and be able to tape all of these shows.

Guiding light:

Guiding light (known as GL to online world) is the longest running soap opera in the USA. GL started out as a radio show back in 1937 and became a tv series in 1952. Guiding light is full of drama and love so give it a chance .

Note: Rumors are swirling about GL ending early next year so I personally am not going to start watching this series until CBS picks it up and if they don’t then i won’t have wasted time on a ending show.

As the world turns:

As the world turns (Known as AtWt to the online world) is a soap opera set in the fictional town of Oakdale this series seems to deal with real life issues such as Homosexuality, Drinking, Sex, Underage Marriage and many more while still having out there plots such as faking deaths and shootings.

Direct TV:

Passions:

Passions is a supernatural soap set in the town of Harmony this is the newest of all the soaps running in the USA passions is 9 years old and will be only on Direct TV. When Passions started it was full of magic and drama now it has turned to more of a mystery with some magic but when it moves to Direct TV supernatural elements will be involved so look forward to all the magic and drama going on this fall.

If you don’t have direct T.V. I wouldn’t watch passions on its final month on NBC it will just bug you like it is bugging all of us who wont be able to move with passions.

BBC America:

Hollyoaks:

Hollyoaks is a British Soap set in the town of Hollyoaks this soap is more like a primetime show along the likes of One tree hill / The O.C. but much better the episodes airing on BBC A are about 8 months behind those airing in the UK so a lot of the stuff you read online will spoil you so you have been warned . Anyways if you have BBC A give it a try I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Now the negative – BBC A switched the time slot for Hollyoaks from 9 pm to 2 am which isn’t the best sign for it to have a long lifespan with that said give it a go and if you get hooked then you can read all the info on everyone and find a online site to download the episodes airing in the UK.
